O muzyce warto wiedzieć jak najwięcej, bo wtedy gra się i z głową i z ogromną przyjemnością…
Istnieje takie przekonanie, że muzykę przede wszystkim należy czuć, do tego mieć dobry słuch i sprawną rękę – i to już zupełnie wystarczy, aby być dobrym wykonawcą. A może nawet i kompozytorem przebojów – jak na przykład członkowie zespołu The Beatles, a po nich i innych zespołów muzyki rozrywkowej po dziś dzień, niestety.
W swoim czasie kompetentne osoby przeprowadziły badania wśród muzyków profesjonalnie nieprzygotowanych do wykonywania tego zawodu, aby ustalić ile każdy z nich w trakcie swojego artystycznego życia był w stanie skomponować przebojów – oczywiście bez zapisu nutowego, tylko nagrywając dobierane dźwięki – utworów, które stały się przebojami. Żaden z nich nie przekroczył liczby 20. Potem talent się kończył i pozostawało, z braku rzemiosła, powtarzanie się.
A tak naprawdę zwyczajnie brakowało wiedzy. Nawet tej zupełnie podstawowej. Każdy utalentowany kompozytor, w pełni przygotowany do zawodu, jest w stanie tworzyć same przeboje, bo po prostu w i e , jak to się robi. Bo tego również się można nauczyć – czego dowodem jest choćby stale powstająca rewelacyjna muzyka filmowa i muzyka do gier. Tu już nie ma miejsca dla amatorów.
Historia muzyki też to potwierdza. Ci najlepsi tworzyli same hity, których inni z kolei słuchali zachwyceni, bądź opracowując je później na swoją modłę (np. tworząc cykle wariacji na lubiany przez publiczność temat), bądź stosując we własnych utworach sposoby wynalezione przez poprzedników. I działo się tak przez wieki całe – w tym względzie historia muzyki wykazuje niezwykłą spójność. Jednak, aby to było możliwe, potrzebna była do tego konkretna wiedza.
Podobnie jest z wykonawcami. Instrumentalista, który gra „bezwiednie”, przypomina kogoś, kto wszedł na pole minowe – trudno się tu spodziewać przyjemności. Każdy następny krok może go wysadzić… z siodła. Ogromnie jest to zniechęcające i u takiego człowieka budzi się przekonanie, że się jednak do czegoś takiego jak muzyka nie nadaje. A wystarczyłoby skorzystać z kilku wskazówek.

Wszystkiego, co Ci się przyda – nic ponadto, ale i nic mniej.
Jeśli już dysponujesz jakąś początkową wiedzą muzyczną, radzimy abyś też zaczął od początku – może spojrzysz na wiele spraw teraz świeższym okiem, a może nawet zdziwisz się, że na pewne proste rzeczy sam dotąd nie wpadłeś. Poznasz też pewne stare zasady, na które może byś sam kiedyś wpadł, ale pewnie jeszcze nie teraz. Nie czekaj, nie warto.
Przede wszystkim zacznij myśleć jak muzyk:
Co mam zrobić, aby to, czego się dowiaduję, stało się moje, żebym mógł spokojnie z tego korzystać i żeby to dla mnie działało?
To jest najważniejsze, wtedy Twoja nowa wiedza muzyczna nabierze sensu – teoria stanie się praktyką. W takim kierunku będziemy Ci ją przekazywać.
